However, using the internet for transactions frequently puts us in uncomfortable situations because of sluggish or 2G network reception, which stops the UPI process online. However, few of us know there is an offline procedure for starting UPI payments. Dial your phone’s USSD code *99# to get prompted.
The “*99# service” was launched by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to handle UPI services among Indian banks. By dialing *99# from their registered mobile number, users can access banking services and conduct financial transactions using an on-screen interactive menu.
Sending and receiving funds between interbank accounts, checking account balances, and setting or changing UPI PINs are just a few of the services that NPCI provides under the 99# service. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to start a UPI transaction using your smartphone and the USSD code “99#.”
How to transfer money from UPI offline
1st Step: Dial *99# from your registered mobile number linked to your bank account.
2nd Step: A menu will be popped up with available facilities to initiate from your bank.

- Pending Request
- UPI Pin
Step 3: To send money, type 1. And tap on send.
4th Step: Now select from which account you want to send money example, Mobile Number, UPI ID, Saved Beneficiary, and others. Type the number of the option and tap send.
Step 5: If you have selected transfer via mobile number, enter the mobile number linked to the UPI account of the receiver and tap send.
Step 6: Enter the amount you want to send and tap on send.
7th Step: Now enter the remark for the payment.
Step 8: Enter the UPI pin to complete your transaction.
Step 9: Your UPI transaction does complete offline.
You can also disable UPI services offline by dialing *99# from your registered phone number and following the prompts.
